here’s that video, for anyone that hasn’t seen it. Now, is it all an act? I’d say yes and no. Riff Raff has a gimmick, there’s no denying that; most rappers do. When most rappers (entertainers in general) are off camera, away from their jobs, they’re a completely different person. I think it was always pretty obvious that Riff Raff plays a caricature of himself. His personality and and mannerisms in this video aren’t really a far cry from the cartoon image in his music. Here, they’re just subdued, and less exaggerated.
also, I think what may catch people most off-guard here is the fact that Riff Raff isn’t as batshit crazy as his music would imply, and comes off as a pretty well-spoken individual. It shouldn’t be that surprising though, as Riff Raff’s actually one of the more clever lyricists I’ve heard as of late. I think his creativity is often looked at as an afterthought to his image, which is kinda sad in itself. It’s the image that has sold him though, so I can’t fault him for that.
