Soulja Boy (feat. 50 Cent) - Mean Mug (SODMG/Interscope, 2010)

I was originally too harsh on the Curtis-assisted Mean Mug, when the original bootleg version of this song and video leaked. It’s grown on me since, and this overly cinematic video definitely has a part in it, as well as the new extended chorus (FUCK YO MEAN MUG, NIGGA, FUCK YO MEAN MUG!) I said earlier this year that Soulja’s evolved into one of the most interesting rappers to follow over the past two years (essentially ever since that Teen Of The South mixtape with DJ Scream), and this year he’s really hit a stride when it comes to making big, booming Southern anthems. Although this still isn’t my favorite Soulja track this year (that’d be Listen), it’s definitely a good choice for the quintessential street banger. Also.. does this mean there’s a new Curtis album coming in 2011? Please?

there better be 3-4 bonus tracks on the Deluxe version, and one of them better be Do It Big. There’s no way Interscope’s kept us waiting this long to release an album with ten songs, that totals to less than 35 minutes. When did albums get so fucking short anyway? They’re virtually EP’s anymore.
Okay, I’m happy now. Pre-ordering that deluxe-version asap. Feel free to pelt me with soup cans.

Soulja Boy - Speakers Going Hammer (SODMG/Interscope, 2010)

Soulja’s Kanye co-signed third single from The DeAndre Way has finally been released upon the internet. Although the audio quality needs work (either it’s not mastered, or the rip from this video is poor), this song is a fucking banger. Definitely hope this catches on, and The DeAndre Way makes its way to stores before the end of the year.

Soulja Boy - Lil Dre (SODMG, 2010)

say what you want about DeAndre, but he’s come so far in the last two years alone; especially with the genesis he seems to have reached since he met Lil B. This freestyle was on Cookin’ Soulja Boy, and the Cookin’ Soul production is a perfect compliment to Dre’s flow.

Soulja Boy - Pretty Boy Swag (SODMG/Interscope, 2010)

yes, I just went from Goodie Mob to Soulja Boy. Deal with it. Official video for Soulja’s new single - better than the bootleg one, at least. Dre still dropping July 28th, as far as I know. At least I hope so.
