Rick Ross - White Sand II (Maybach Music/Def Jam, 2010)
The sequel to last year’s White Sand that was featured on The Albert Anastasia EP gets a video, minus Triple C’s verses with the addition of a Diddy outro. Fair trade.

So, the second quarter is over. Time to do some catch-up; I posted my favorite Q1 releases(about a month or two late, mind you) here - http://yayodancing.tumblr.com/post/562047979/q1-is-over - when I first got started with this tumblr. Now, I’m going to simply post pictures of my favorite Q2 releases because I’m bored and I like to have this for collective purposes. Also, it’ll help when I round up my album of the year list in five odd months.
Rick Ross - MC Hammer (Maybach Music/Def Jam, 2010)
A lotta people are gushing over this record, and once you hear it, it’s not hard to figure out why. This is the return of the Rick Ross I’ve missed since Deeper Than Rap dropped; the dark comedian who rides the thin line between genius ignoramus, and ends up falling into both categories. The way that Ross spins the concept of being MC Hammer is genuinely brilliant amidst all the ignorance surrounding it, or more accurately, in spite of it. From name-dropping Too Legit To Quit, talking about bringing out the stick and calling it Hammer Time, to having thirty cars and a whole lotta dancers, Ross rides with this concept the long way. Let’s not forget that he let my top back, yeah I’m circumcised; had to pull it back just to go inside.
Then on the following Lex Luger track, he compares himself to Big Meech on a track called BMF featuring Styles P. Officer Ricky’s back on his bullshit. I’m actually looking forward to Teflon Don now.

say what you will about Officer Ricky (and I will), but this dude stays dropping material. And most of this is actually pretty fucking good - glad to see Lex Luger (TORTURE RACK SHAWTY) finally getting some work outside of the Brick Squad. Plus more production from boi-1da, and guest features from Styles P and Kool G. Fucking Rap? I’m there.
