Anonymous asked: what do you think about that new RiFF RAFF song 'TiME'? to me its like gucci's 'antisocial' totally out of left field but he fuckin nails it. a few lines fall pretty flat (the triple a one) but otherwise i think its some of his strongest work
the song is actually about 2 and a half years old, if not closer to three. It was released on his Never Ending Saturday album, which featured a lot of left field songs, half of which were on his experimental electro album Party McHardy. The video definitely makes the song, or at least it does more favors for the song than the song does for the video - but I have grown quite fond of it in the last six or so hours of repeated listens. It’s probably the most personal Riff Raff has gotten on record yet, and as what is essentially a country song that samples the “Hey There Delilah” melody, it is a 100x better than it has any right to be. The whole verse referring to having no children, no wife, and no one to take care of him hits close to home.
He also changes his name more often than Diddy.

“Basedprint Vol. 2, no need for Vol. 1”
N.O.R.E. - Crack On Steroids (self-released, 2012)
The last time N.O.R.E. was a relevant artist, he was making reggaeton and tipping the scales. He’s returned to rap since then, and this new “collector’s edition” mixtape finds him rapping in a similar fashion to his glory days. Unfortunately, the music he chose to rap over leaves a lot to be desire. “Lehhgo” is the lone exception, where relative unknown Charli Brown provides Nore, Busta Rhymes, Waka, and a Nas-channeling Game with an Araabmuzik-esque banger that actually has some crossover appeal. At least, Flex should be dropping bombs on it any day now, if he hasn’t already. Aside from that, Nore also enlists Gunplay for a hook, and CNN tackle a decent modernist Just Blaze beat on “My Alias”
